Diagnosed Vulval cancer

So diagnosis confirmed. Should be going to hospital either this Monday or next Monday to get my plan started. Feel a sense of relief now it's confirmed. Just need to get on with it now.

  • Hope it goes really well, Moira. x Harry

  • Thank you. Will keep posting. Hope all ok with you. Mx

  • So sorry Moria, I was thinking about you all day on Tuesday and looked several times to see if you had updated. At least they can now get on and deal with it for you. I am sat on the balcony over looking the beach in Barbados at the moment still none the wiser of my results, spoke to hospital on Monday they said they would email them as not home until 5th November but still nothingstill happy hour rum punches help you forget.

  • Hi. Sorry haven't been on the site for a while. Do you have your diagnosis yet?  I've had my surgery and got the all clear cancer wise. Have had lymph nodes removed left hand side which is causing some worries/problems hence no sleep and posting at stupid o'clock in the morning. Please let me know how you are getting on. Will keep a regular eye out now. Mx

  • Hello Moria, Good to hear you got the all clear. Hope you recover soon from the lymph node removal. I eventually got my results, still had to chase when I got back from holiday though as there was no letter waiting !. I had to ring the hospital they said no letter had been sent I couldn't believe it and an hour later they rang me back and read out the result which wonderfully was cancer free but the cells were slightly atypical so they have said they will see me in six months and then decided how often I need to be seen. Although it all turned out to be ok I guess it has frightened me and it crops up in my thoughts every now and then especially when the Lichen Sclerosus is playing up like at the moment, it is waring especially as I don't know what I should be doing to keep it under control. I've made an appointment next week at GP's as I can't see the area properly even with a mirror I'd have to be a contortionist. Well hope you recover in time to have a lovely Christmas.
  • Fantastic news on the all clear front. Hope you have a very happy Christmas. Understand what you mean about being a contortionist. I've not looked at mine yet since the operation but am getting some feeling back down there so will have to bite the bullet after Christmas and have a look. Hope you have a good one. Maybe a few brandy cocktails will ease the "uncomfortable ". Mx

  • Hi Moira

    I hope you are well?

Just had a cancerous lesion removed 2 weeks ago and now looking at further excision and lymph node removal on both sides of groin.

Im a bit concerned that as a Stage 1B they want to do such radical surgery without non invasively checking if  there has been spread?

Im 50 and pretty fit so lymphoedema would devastate my life style, not as much as cancer obviously but i cant imagine having such radical life changing surgery to be told it was all clear!?

Any thoughts or comments would be welcome.
