devastation

Hello... I am from huttchinson ks. My only Daughter- Just turned 43.-  is a 5 year cancer survivor. 5 Days ago... We learned cancer is back- stage 4. going to do radiation for 2 weeks. I eed to know what the chaces sre for her survival....Thanks and God Bless:(

  • Awful news. Only her medical team can answer that. They will tell you if you ask them, if your daughter gives them permission to discuss your case, or she can ask herself if she wants. Every patient is different when it comes to deciding how much they want to know. Best wishes. harry.

    Hello Hopeful,

I am so sorry to hear  about your daughter's recent diagnosis. None of us can guess at here survival rate. The only people who might be able to help are her care team. They have examined her and seen the results of tests, but even they don't have a crystal ball. Doctors can guess at the length of time she has left, but they have been wong before and some patients have lived much longer than expected.

Her doctor will want to give her treatment to slow down the rate of growth of her tumour. I do hope that she reacts well to her treatment.

Please keep us informed about how she gets on in her fight with this terrible disease. There is always someone here whenever either of you feel like talking.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine

    Hello Hopeful,

You are naturally scared, especially when metastases have been found. Don’t worry about crying. This is a great release valve for reducing the stress you are under.

You will obviously be worried about losing her. I haven’t reached this stage myself yet, but in reading previous posts, this seems to be the time that her care team cannot offer a cure, but they can slow down the rate of metastases.

I sincerely hope and pray that this works for her, and that you can still have some good years together.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine
