Dent in breast - clinic tomorrow

Hi everyone,

I have an appointment at the breast clinic tomorrow after a visit to the GP over a change in my breast. I have noticed a line indent, about 3cm long. It seems to follow a vein and is only visible when I raise my arm. I have a strange, intermittent sensation just under my collarbone, not exactly painful but noticeable. I'm trying not to worry but it's difficult! I'm 34, mum to an amazing little girl aged 17 months. I've breastfed my daughter through LOTS of challenges, blocked ducts, mastitis etc so I'm hoping that is the cause of the change.

I'm wondering if anyone has been through anything similar?

I lost my mum to cancer 6 years ago and I'm worried.

  • Hi Laura,

A very warm welcome to our forum. It sounds as if you've been through the mill in order to continue breastfeeding. Chances are that your symptoms may just be another glitch. However, your doctor has done the right thing, by sending you to the breast clinic to get checked out. It is a fact that only 1 person in every 8, who attend the clinic, will get a cancer diagnosis, so the odds are still on your side.

Having lost your mum to cancer, it is only natural that you are worried, but I sincerely hope that all goes well for you tomorrow.

Please keep in touch and let us know how you get on. We are always here for you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx
