Dad is dying

My Dad has recently been diagnosed with liver cancer, which has spread to his oesophagus and lymph nodes. He's about to have palliative chemotherapy. I lost my Mum to cancer 4 years ago and I'm just devastated that it's happening all over again. How do I even begin to process this so I can support him?

  • Hello Dawn1983

I'm very sorry to hear about your Dad's recent diagnosis and that you've also previous lost your Mum to cancer. Sometimes life just doesn't seem fair and it's understandable that you're feeling devastated by this recent news.

It can help to talk to someone about how you're feeling and so I wonder if you'd like to speak to one of our team of nurses. I'm sure they would be able to offer you some support. If you'd like to speak to them they're available Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm on 0808 800 4040.

Alternatively you might want to check out the Maggie's website. They offer lots of different support services to people affected by cancer including family members.

    I hope this helps.

    Best wishes,
