Cytoreductive surgery, HIPEC treatment

Has anyone experience of having this treatment or their loved 1. My husband is having this procedure next week to treat bowel cancer with peritoneal spread.

Thank you

  • Hi there. I have just come across some of your posts when I was searching online for patients with the same diagnosis as my husband. My husband was diagnosed in June 15 with extensive peritoneal mets. He spent almost three years on chemo (he was showing No Evidence of Disease for over two years) and then came off it all to "watch and wait". Unfortunately the cancer crept back and he is now back on chemo. We have met a surgeon who has agreed to surgery possibly next year including HIPEC so I will be following on in your shoes very soon.

I just wanted to say hi and to say that I know how you feel. I can see that you have not had any reponses on here and wondered if you have ever heard of Bowel Cancer UK. They have a wonderful forum full of supportive people and it may give you another path to look down for advice and so on. I have been active on there for quite a few years and it has been my lifeline. There is a private section for relatives so we can scream and shout and have a moan without feeling guilty about patients reading it!!!

Thinking of you both and hope the surgery goes well.

    Kind regards, Tiffany x

  • How did your husbands surgery go?

    Was it done via NHS.

And were these the only mets eg. None in liver or lungs.
