Hi Puffin and welcome to the forum,

Love the nick name by the way.

About eight years ago I was diagnosed with prostate cancer. I had hardly ever been to the doctors and suddenly found felt like I was taking up residence at the surgery ha ha. I was very concerned while they were determining what the problem  was because your brain works overtime and nearly always imagines the worst case scenario. But after recieving excellent care from the good old NHS I am please to say I have made a good recovery.

I waslucky in that I could talk to family and friends and that made a big differnce. I have been a forum member for several years now and it feels like being a part of a large extended family on here so if you want to talk there are lots of great people on here who will offer help and support.

I wish you well for Monday and hope your treatment goes well. sending kind thoughts your way, Brian.

    Hi Puffin,

Welcome to Cancer Chat, the site that nobody really wants to join. I am sorry to hear about your diagnosis. I am glad that you have found this site, as there is always someone here to talk to. You will find it useful for information, advice and support and we are also here if you just want to vent your spleen.

What type of cancer do you have and what stage is it? i have had 2 bouts of primary breast cancer. The first time was 7 years ago and the second the following year.

I am thinking of you on Monday and hope that all goes well. Please keep in touch and let us know how you are getting on.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • Hello Brian thank you so much for your message. I know what you mean, most days I don't feel well enough to go out so the only time I leave the house is for hospital visits. Im trying to stay positive but as I said I don't have anyone I can talk to which is why I was pleased to find this chat site. I've been off work two months now and I still haven't told them what's wrong as I'm worried what people's reaction will be. I'm glad to hear you've made a recovery. Suzanne
  • Thank you for your reply. Yes the waiting is the hardest part. My cancer is ovarian so I'm having chemo then an op. Hope you hear about your treatment soon. Its reassuring to know others can understand what you're going through.

  • Hello jolamine,

Thank you for your message. Yes I'm very glad I found this site it will certainly be good to connect with others who understand what you're going through. I have ovarian cancer, everything happened so fast but i just want to get the first chemo session out the way now. Are you clear of cancer now?

    Best wishes, Suzanne xx

    Hi Puffin,

This is the trouble with cancer. As soon as there is the slightest suspicion, things start to move rapidly and we are inundated with tests, surgery and treatment in such quick succession, that we don't really have the time to come to terms with all that is happening.

I am sure that you will feel better in yourself once you start chemo on Monday. At least you will feel that you are fighting the cancer then.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx
