Confused about Breast biopsy results

I'm so confused, I had a biopsy a 5 years ago which came back as a benign fibroadenoma, the lump had never changed in anyway until a few months ago when it started growing rapidly. I was given another biopsy and the results came back as benign, my relief was short lived as the consultant then added the word 'but' and said the results also showed cancerous markers and an excision biopsy was needed. I've had the excision biopsy and get my results soon but I'm worrying myself sick. Has anyone had similar results I don't know what to think I feel really lost and Dr Google is really not helping.

  • Hi

I know it's difficult waiting for results but try not to overthink and Dr Google scares you even more. The main thing is you have had it looked at early and the doctors will put you mind at rest whatever the outcome.

    Wishing you all the best

  • Hi Rosie,

A very warm welcome to our forum. I am sorry to hear that you are so scared about your surgery.  We normally find that the doctors and nurses on our care teams are pretty open about what to expect at our operations.

I agree with Silverdays about consulting 'Dr Google'. We nearly all do it, BUT - it is never a good idea to do this, until you know the exact extent of what you're dealing with. Most of the articles aim at the more spectacular cases and can scare the pants off of you. Hold on to the fact that it is a good sign that this is operable and I'm sure that it will all be over before you know it.

I shall be thinking of you on MOnday.

Please keep in touch and let us know how you get on. We are always here for you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx
