  • Hello brewster,

I noticed you hadn't yet received a response so I thought I would come and say hello and therefore bump your post to the top!

Wow 12 hour days! I am sure there are others on our forum who have been in a similar position as you and they will be able to share their story of what it was like to go back to work.

    Best wishes,

  • Hi Brewster, I see no one in your situation has responded to your initial post, other than Lucie, who hoped raising your post to the beginning of the topics would catch someone's attention. It did catch mine although I likely should have seen it sooner, but here I am. Sorry to hear you are still experiencing discomfort after having lung surgery back in March. I have had two surgeries on the same lung for cancer - the first being in Oct./2012 and the last one Dec./2014. After both surgeries, it took about 6 months before I was feeling okay, and in fact, I am now at 7 months since my last surgery and my ribs are still painful. I am retired so not having to worry about returning to a job, but certainly have a home to keep up. (I am a woman.) As far as having to do heavy lifting or hard work, you should really check with your surgeon, or family doctor and ask them about the possible risk. You sure don't want to do anything to cause more problems for yourself after having gone through that big surgery.

Take care and look after yourself.

  • Thanks for your reply Lorraine,I think I am now starting to get my head around maybe retiring early ,this whole thing has been a bit shocking as it is for many people on here .I will just have to find other ways to fill my days and also as it is highly likely to return I am thinking do I really want to tire myself and stress myself out working in that environment again perhaps excelerating its recurrence.Thank you for your input  and sorry for the delayed reply it has been helpful.Diane
