CGIN cells and recent LLETZ

Hi,

I'm very new to this forum but wanted to get some advice and share my story with others.

8 weeks ago I had results back from smear - HPV positive and moderate to severe changes.

Referred for a colposcopy which I had 5 weeks ago. Mentioned there wasn't anything severely abnormal but took some biopsies.

Had results 2 weeks ago which found CGIN cells, went for LLETZ treatment last Tuesday not even a week ago.

Since then I've had constant lower back pain, some twinges/period pain, and now hip pain. Feeling tired, got a little bit of smelly discharge but not much in consistency, a bit constipated, bad heartburn & acid. My hot water bottles never had so much use!

Anyone any idea what's happening? Due to have my results in 3 weeks time, gyno advised I might not need more treatment but was told everything was OK the first time I went.

What can I expect from the LLETZ results? Will I have to have the treatment again? Will it confirm grade precancerous or even cancerous cells? I'm 28, not had any children as yet.

Appreciate any advice anyone has.

A x

  • Hey!

I'm new to all this too, I don't have much advice but I'll write below my journey. I'm currently awaiting my results from my Lletz procedure - I'm into the 3rd week of waiting for results and very stressed and worried waiting. I'm only 25 and have no kids yet. We are in the same boat so hopefully we both get results soon!

Feb 2019 first smear - abnormal results low grade

Colposcopy July 2019 - they done a biopsy - got my results in August asking me to come back for another colposcopy in September

Sept 2019 - Was told cells had moved from low grade to high grade and was told it is severe cin3. Doctor offered me to leave it, to have the lletz procedure there and then or have a hysterectomy. As I'm so young and have no kids he advised I have the lletz procedure. It was very traumatic having been told this daunting information and being asked to make a decision right away on what to do. I felt very in the dark about it all.

Currently into the third week from procedure. Have had discharge and bleeding since with heightened emotions - living in constant fear and anxiously awaiting results.

Fingers crossed for both of us we hear soon - sending positive vibes x

  • Hi there,

Nice to e-meet you and sending you positive vibes too.

I've had bad back again today, just not feeling right at all. Smell is still there but not loads of discharge or blood. It's been a week tomorrow since my treatment.

Have you heard anything today? When are you due your results back?

  • Hi I am New to this but am in a similar boat to you. Had my routine smear last month, results were abnormal cells detected. Didn't say anything about how severe the changes were or HPV. Went for colposcopy on Monday and was told I have CGIN, this sounds so much worse than normal CIN when reading about it. Doctor said they remove the cells straight away when its those cells that are abnormal so agreed to a LLETZ there and then which was fine.

She said I would get results after Christmas now which seems a long wait but really nervous about what they might find.

    Age 31, 3 children.

    2 previous smears normal.

  • High Grade CGIN

Hi, I am new to posting. I had Lletz end of November as my smear picked up possible CGIN. Just received my results confirming CIN1 and high grade CGIN. The hospital letter advised that they were referring me to a specialist team and they would meet to decide on my follow up, is this normal for CGIN?

I'm assuming they are deciding if I need more treatment but the letter was so vague it is hard not to worry xx

  • Ah sorry to hear this,

Cant really help with your question as still waiting for my results from the lletz, but hope everything is turns out OK.

  • Thank you, I hope you your results go well.  Think I'm going to call the hospital tomorrow, I'm impatient at the best of time's, If I find out anything useful I'll post back xx

  • Hi everyone. I am going through the same thing just now and wondered how you guys got on? Love to all

  • Hi feistyfilly,

Sorry to hear your going through this too. I had my results from the lletz a few weeks ago. Confirmed as CGIN and CIN3. was a bit of a shock to have both but they don't want to see me until June which will be 6 months after the lletz so hopefully they are confident they got it all first time around. Feeling OK about it at the moment but still keeping everything crossed that will clear in June. X

  • It sounds like that's reassuring news and keeping g my fingers crossed for you. I think I'm just struggling with how little I know just now. I will definatly feel better once I get the biopsy results. I just wish the doctor wasnt so cryptic

  • Wishing you the best of luck. Keep us posted when you hear x
