Cervical cancer - how long should i wait?

Hello

I am 28 years old and have a 5 year old daughter, I have been looking at others posts and wanted to post something for a while but was nervous.

I went to the doctors just before Christmas because i was experiencing worrying symptoms, I'd had symptoms for a while but brushed them off until they'd got bad.  I'd never had a cervical screening (I know it's stupid), when I I'd described my sypmtoms the doctor did a swab with a speculum, when the doctor located my cervix her face dropped and said I need to be seen for a biopsy ASAP because it didn't look right and was bleeding (no recent sex and not a period).

I have always had regular periods, no concerns. Within the last year this has changed, I have missed a couple and they have changed ALOT! I bleed between periods and after sex - not spotting full on bleeding, I am in constant pain which honestly feels like contractions, its in my lower abdomen, hips and sometimes my legs. I am really tired and nauseous alot that comes in waves, I am currently being medicated for this - codeine for the pain and anti sickness tablets.

Sorry for the TMI but the bleeding changes, its always heavy but changes from red and fresh looking blood, sometimes there is a lot of clots and sometimes it is thick and dark similar to marmite but still a large amount.

I had a cervical screening done in the meantime which was negative. Does this automatically mean I don't have cancer?

I went for my biopsy on the 28th december 2022, they told me I would hear from them within around 4 weeks, it is now the 30th January 2023. Is this normal? I'm going out of mind, initially I was terrified, I'm still so worried but I'm at a point where I know it is what it is but i'm in so much pain and I just want to know whats wrong! I was told i need a pelvic ultrasound aswell alongside indepth bloods but still haven't received an appointment.

Also, I am a midwife so have a pretty good understanding of what is a 'normal' cervix - when I saw the screen during my biopsy it was not normal looking

So sorry for the long post, i just had to get all the info out

Has anyone had a similar experience? Have you been diagnosed with cancer despite the negative screening?

Thank you so much
