Cannabis Oil

Hello All,

Recently we made the decision to treat a terminally ill family member using cannibis oil (THC). Unfortunately we didn't have a chance to administer it fully.

We are interested in opening a conversation with someone who may already be thinking of using this course of treatment. Someone who has done research and is looking at the implementation of cannibis oil as treatment.

We truly believed, as did our relative, that this was the best way to cure her cancer, hopefully it can help someone else who feels the same.

  • Hello Tothemoonandback,

While there is evidence that medicinal cannabis products can help manage pain and side-effects from cancer treatment, cannabis (THC) remains illegal to purchase in the UK and there is currently no reliable evidence that it can effectively treat cancer in patients. Further trials are needed to understand whether cannabis-containing products could be used to treat cancer in the future. You can find out more about the research that is currently being carried out in a very interesting article on our science blog

Taking cannabis oil could also potentially interfere with any other conventional cancer treatments and can carry other side effects and risks as well so anyone who is looking into this needs to discuss this with their medical team. You can read more about the safety of complementary and alternative therapies on this page.

    Best wishes,
