Cancer support for caregivers

Hi All,

A family member of mine is suffering from terminal bowel cancer. We found out that the hospital stopped treatment at the beginning of this month because there is nothing else they can do.

He doesnt seem to be doing so well. He came back from hospital last week and has barely moved from his bed over the last 4 days. He sleeps a lot and barely eats. When he eats he throws it back up.

He doesn’t talk very much as well so it’s hard for us to know what we can do to help him.

A district nurse visits him every two weeks. I feel like he might need more help.

Any advice?

Thanks

  • Try macmillan or Marie curie but I think you have to go through doctor or someone  on medical practice

  • Hi there ..

Good advice from Billy ... Marie Currie is there for terminal patients and their families ... they will often come out and sit through the night to give you respite .. if I remember someone said to go through your district nurse for refural ... but go on their home page and there's lots of info on there ...

McMillan can come out to help with washing them, etc ... through the day .. they have a phone number on their home page too .. call them both tomorrow. . Try and get help in place as soon as possible ...take anything offered ... good luck ... fingers crossed they come through for you ..
