Hello LHW, how awful for her.  You don't say how old she is or whether she has family who are caring for her.  Whoever is caring, her doctor needs to know that the pain killers are not adequate - she shouldn't have to suffer such pain.  I don't know how appropriate the attached link is as I don't know who is the main carer but it may be helpful to you.  In any event you can spend time with your friend talk to her and do anything that you think may ease her body and mind, playing music, making sure she is drinking so is not dehydrated.    If you want to tell us a bit more detail of what is happening around your friend please do so.  Best wishes.  Annie
