CA125 raised & referred for scan

Hi there

I had some blood tests following a few months of feeling very fatigued and lower back pain that wasn't shifting.  The blood tests showed that my MCV & CA125 levels are raised and been referred to have a scan within next two weeks.
I am feeling anxious but remaining positive, however, just would like to know sooner what's going on.  Is there usually a further wait for results I should expect after the scan or will I know the same day?

thanks

  • Hello pfindlay1977,

Welcome to Cancer Chat. I hope you are not feeling too nervous as you are waiting to have that scan. You are right to try and remain positive but as many of our forum members will know only too well, the hardest thing is often the long wait for the scan and then again for the results. There are helpful tips on this page on how to cope while waiting for important news. To help you stay calm, the best thing to do is to stay away from google as this will only make you worry more and to just take one day at a time keeping busy and distracted if you can. I know this is easier said than done.

To answer your question, I am not sure what kind of scan you are having, if it is an ultrasound or a CT scan for example but you should be normally getting your results within 1 to 2 weeks. By all means, when you are going for the scan, do ask them when you can expect to get your results and they will be able to confirm the time frame that is to be currently expected for you.

I hope it all goes well for you and that it turns out to be nothing of concern.

Best of luck for your scan and best wishes,
