Breast total duct excersion

Hi, I'm new here but wanted to ask a general question and for some advice.
August 2020 I had a total duct excersion on my left breast after having discharge and then blood keep coming from my nipple. The tissue was checked and all was ok.

randomly this week for 4 days running I have had blood coming from the same nipple. (Always still had a bit of discharge) and the surgeon said maybe a duct was missed in the operation. Basically I don't know weather to get checked again or just ignore it as I feel I "know" what the issue is and like I said the tissue that was removed was clear so do I just take that as gospel.? Has anyone else had anything similar?

  • Hello, and thank you for contacting us.

It is always good to get changes and unusual symptoms checked out. But anyone on here, although may have a similar sounding situation, will have an experience that is very individual to them.

I wonder whether you still have contact details for either a specialist nurse (cns) or the hospital team who you were under previously to update them with what is going on. Or it is something you can contact your GP about too as they also know your full medical history. Either way a health professional needs to check things out for you and assess you properly.

Do take care, and if you feel you want to talk any of this through you may find it helpful to chat things through with one of the nurses on our helpline.  The number to call is Freephone 0808 800 4040 and the lines are open from 9am till 5pm Monday to Friday.

    Sarah.

  • I had lots of problems with breast duct extasia dilated milk ducts, after lots of infections and operations to remove ducts l had a breast reduction removing as many ducts and Breast  tissue as possible the lower part of the breast, Even with this l have had the odd duct infection they said they cannot get to  all the ducts no regrets as so much better. Not cancerous fortunately but the ducts can become cancerous.
l would contact your breast team about the discharge for reassurance if nothing else

    take care
