Hi, if you have private healthcare I would strongly recommend using it. You're still able to use the NHS too so I wouldn't worry about that. 

I noticed a dimple in my left breast on Wednesday that has been accompanied with some pain over the last couple of weeks. I used our private healthcare to have a GP consultation which happened within 20 minutes of me finding the dimple. She gave me an open referral straight away and I now have an appointment this morning at 11am at a one stop breast clinic where you get a physical check, mammogram and ultrasound done. All results are same day too which is great. I am much like you with all the symptoms I have do seem to add up to having cancer. This could just be my mind going to worst case scenario though. But if you have the option to use private healthcare then I'd definitely take it and use it x

I'm so glad that you're being seen. Who is your private health with? We are with Axa and they have been fab. When the GP does a referral ask for an open referral and then go on a website called Check4Cancer. Hopefully somewhere local to you is on there and can get you in ASAP. Mine were fab and got me an appointment within 48 hours, hopefully your insurance is a partner with one of these places!

We very rarely use our healthcare as it's a benefit from my husbands work place but I called my own GP on Monday with pains and she said it's all in my head and gave me anxiety meds and said if I was still in pain in a week to call back, then they'd put me on a two week referral. When I found the dimple I knew I had to get sorted and so I thought I'd put our private healthcare to some use and I'm so glad I did. If I didnt, I'm not sure how long I would've had to wait or if I would've even been dismissed again!

Mine is through my partners work with the same provider and my gp said on the phone, I think it's muscular but I can see you if you like. Then when she did and she found the lump she said "well I wasn't expecting that" Neither was I

So I've been seen. The consultant felt both breasts and was not worried. He couldn’t feel a lump. He said the dimple is common in post partum women as boobs grow and change so much in pregnancy. He said my armpit is likely down to shifting breast tissue and the pain is likely to be down to ill fitting bras. He sent me for a scan just to be on the safe side and they scanned my breast and underarm and everything looks absolutely normal. He was happy to discharge me and just said that I need to keep an eye on changes (like usual) and feel free to go back if I have anymore concerns x

I went to the appointment and the consultants were lovely. The first one said he could not feel anything untoward with lymph nodes. He also couldn't feel a lump in my breast or neck. I was taken aback as I couldnt either, but the dr said she had. 
I had a mammogram then an ultra sound and they didn't find anything. I cannot tell you how relieved I felt. Just so so relieved, I can't put it into words. 
I feel very fortunate that I was able to see someone so quickly and I'm really thankful that you replied to my post on here when you did. 

I questioned what the Dr could have felt if there was nothing there, and one of the consultants said to me "you know your breasts better than a Dr."
Both consultants asked me if I had had the vaccine and noted the puffiness in the armpit was on that side. But didn't say much more. I had the last one in July and this has happened since then. 

I'm so glad I got this checked out and If anyone is reading this post with similar symptoms I want them to not panic as I did. I know it's easier said than done but It's very easy to attribute symptoms to a particular condition before they have been checked. I'm really grateful for this discussion forum too. Thank you
