Breast Clinic Referral Tomorrow

Hi Guys,

I'm a 25 year old woman with history of breast cancer in the family (grandmother on my maternal side passed away from breast cancer). Last week after watching a tv show on breast awareness I decided I best check mine (admittedly I don't check as often as a should).

when I did check I found a large indented line and hard spot on my left breast with two dimples above it.

went to see my GP and she said "it felt different" to my right breast and referred me to the breast clinic.

my appointment is tomorrow and I'm so nervous. I have previously been to the breast clinic a few years ago due to a lump under my armpit which turned out to be nothing but this time around I really am feeling apprehensive. Especially when the doctor said it felt different. She didn't go into any more detail but I'm so nervous. I took some comparison pictures of my breasts yesterday and the difference is so alarming. Has anyone else had similar symptoms/experiences?

  • That's really quick for an app. I've had to wait 6 weeks , won't be getting seen till mid jan. I also have breast cancer on my maternal side (grandmother) . Good luck tomorrow , I have swelling in my armpit , breast and down my arm , I have nipple scaling also. X

  • Good luck for tomorrow! I will be thinking of you. I have very similar symptoms to you, but for my right breast. My breasts feel and look quite different now. I attended a GP appointment today and have been referred to the breast screening clinic for in nine days.

    Hi Missrose and StephLouise,

I am sorry to hear that you are both at the waiting stage too. This is always an anxious time, so try to keep yourselves as busy as you can to distract yourselves from the wait. Here's hoping that there is a simpler solution to your symptoms.

Please keep in touch and let us know how you get on. We are always here for you.

    Fingers crossed!

    Kindest regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • I was diagnosed with Stage 3 invasive breast cancer yersterday afternoon. I had a mammogram performed of both breasts, which indicated that luckily my left breast is clear and that the cancer has not spread my right breast to the surrounding lymph nodes. Another small mass was detected close to the back of the chest wall, nearby to the existing tumour. I am returning today for another image guided core biopsy to be performed via mammogram. My HER2 result is still pending, but I am likely to find out within the next two weeks, meaning my course of treatment is yet to be determined. I also met one of my breast cancer nurses at the appointment yesterday.
