Breast and armpit biopsies and now lesion on collarbone

I went to doctors with a large painless mass in my right breast with slightly pink colour. And my chest area looked sunburnt and was itchy. I was treated for mastitis and had a 5 day course of antibiotics. The doctor also book a appointment at the breast care clinic for 2 weeks time as a follow up.

My breast mass had grown (now felt abit sore) sunburnt look still there, very itchy and lower are slightly swollen. And now swollen area in my armpit. All on my right side.

The consultant sent me for a mammogram. Then I had a ultrasound for guided vab core needle bisopies. Told I will see the consultant again on 2nd September.

But the night after the biopsies a red very itchy lesion showed up running along my collarbone. And I've been bitten by insects, but some of the bites aren't itchy ?

Is anyone else waiting for breast /armpit biopsy results ? I'm absolutely worried sick.

  • Hello Lottie-r

Welcome to the forum and I'm sorry to hear about the problems that have brought you here.

It sounds as if your GP has been proactive in getting you referred to the breast clinic and they've obviously carried out the tests they felt were necessary to find out what it is that's causing this swelling and itching. Hopefully when you go to your appointment next Monday the consultant will be able to answer lots of the questions that you have.

We've lots of ladies here on the forum who've been through this stage of testing and waiting for results and I know that they would agree that it can be a particularly difficult time. Not knowing what's causing your symptoms can lead to a lot of worry. Try to keep in mind that the majority of people who attend breast clinic aren't diganosed with cancer.

If you'd like to chat things through with one of our team of nurses please do give them a call. They're available on 0808 800 4040, Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm.

Keep in touch Lottie and let us know how you get on at your appointment next week.

    best wishes,

  • Thank you so much for your reply.

I phoned the doctors to. But they haven't got the results.  She advised phoning the unit.

First phone call,  They said results weren't back.

She said she would double check. 5 minutes later some else from the clinic phoned. She said the results aren't back yet and if they were they would not tell you over the phone. She explained a panel will meet this Friday and decide what they are doing. Then next Monday at my out patient appointment in the clinic they will discuss with me.

the receptionist that booked me in straight away when I first phoned gp. The GP. The consultants and nurses at the hospital. The receptionist today at GP and consultant office have been so supportive and helpful. And I'm greatful to everyone of these people.

And thank you again for your reply.

  • Results day tomorrow.

Weather it's good or bad, I will know.

The waiting will be over. And boy, it seems to have been a eternity since my biopsies where taken.

  • Just in case anyone in the future wants to know the outcome.

It turns out to be invasive duct breast cancer and in lymph nodes.
