Bowels

I am 16 years old and I have been going to the hospital for the past 2 weeks as i had a boil on my anus when I went to the hospital they gave me antibiotics for the infection but the boil came back once I finished them so I went back to the hospital and they told me to go back the next day for an operation when I got there they did the usuall blood pressure and other things I was ready to go in for my operation when 4 doctors came in to have a look first I told them boil had just popped while I was there and they said I might not need an operation but once they looked at it they said I had complications with my bowels and something else but I didn't catch what she said.

She said I need an MRI SCAN and and a planned operation they asked if my mam had history of bowel problems wich she hasn't and I'm not sure about my dads side that's  all they said and they quickly left to prepare the MRI letter but I never got the chance to tell them that I suffered from really bad bowel problems from when I was a baby and I still suffer sometimes now I couldn't go to the toilet for 3 to 4 weeks at a time and it caused me to bleed and have severe pain also I was meant to have an operation when I was younger to cut the hole as it was to small but they never did it they just gave me medicine.

Now I still get constipated, bad dioreha, occasional blood clots when on the toilet, severe cramps, swelling on my belly, I sometimes get unexplained blood after sex sometimes it's been nearly half a cup I also lose my appetite regularly and don't eat for long periods of time, I also suffer from really bad indigestion which causes me to be sick and it's always bile, also when I go to the toilet it is sometimes almost a black coulor, and for the past year now I am constantly tired it's a struggle to get of bed even if I want to do something I just don't have the energy I had to drop out of college as it was to much for me wich is wierd since Im only almost 17 and I also had 4 different boils in the exact same place over the past year and a half and 2 of them were in just 2 weeks, I'm hoping to get some advice on what to from now as I can't sleep I'm constantly worried please if someone can tell me something that would be great thanks

  • Poor you Holly1984, you've been dealing with so much at such a young age it doesn't sound pleasant at all. I hope you won't have to wait too long for your MRI scan and that it sheds some light on what is going on. I hope you have mentioned all these symptoms when you went to the hospital - it is important that they get a full picture so do mention everything you have mentioned here to your doctor or specialist. I hope you can find out more soon about what is causing these issues.

Try if you can not to worry too much while you are waiting to have your MRI scan - it won't be long now before you get the answers you desperately need. The best thing to do in the meantime is to avoid googling anything as it will only make your worries worse. Keep busy and distracted if you can I know it is easier said than done. And if you feel  you need to talk to your GP before you get a date for your scan, don't hesitate to give them a call and talk about all the symptoms you mentioned.

Keeping everything crossed for you that it all turns out fine and that you get some answers soon!

    Best wishes,

  • Hi Holly

This should have been sorted years ago really if they were aware.

You shouldn't have all this to put up with at your age, hopefully the mri will help them get you sorted.

I do think it is really important that you write every little thing down and get in touch with either the consultant or your GP to pass the info on. It will all help them solve the puzzle.

Lots of love and I hope you are sorted quickly x
