Bowel cancer possibly spread to peritoneum

Hi everyone,

My mum has finished 8 rounds of chemo and just had her 1st CT scan. The consultant called her to get her in 4 weeks earlier than the original appointment to give her the results. They have found a blood clot in the superior mescenteric vein and an area of suspicious concern in the peritoneum. Her original cancer was aT4 tumour in the bowel which was removed and their was some lymph node involvement too. They have said there is nothing they can do at the minute as the area is small and can't be aspiriated, so we are having to wait for 8-12 weeks for another CT scan to see if this area changes.....

Another awful waiting game, has anyone else experienced this????

  • Hello emsy0809,

I am so sorry you are having so much worry and your poor mum is ill. It is easier said than done to tell you not to worry, and yes there is a lot of waiting, but I'm going to as you must look after yourself too. My husband has bowel and secondary liver cancer and there has been an awful lot of waiting to see if there's any growth or not. It seems sometimes it takes that long to see any changes so that the right treatment can be given.

Unfortunately for my lovely husband they can't operate on him and we are in a state of shock and disbelief that this has happened to him.

You need to sit tight sweetheart and try to stay positive about the next few weeks and stay strong for your mum too. I send you loads and loads of love and big hugs.
I will look out for any posts you put on here. Xx
