bowel and secondary liver cancer

Hi all I am new on the forum and was just diagnosed yesterday with bowel cancer with secondaries on the liver. It is still sinking in. I just wonderd if anyone has been diagnosed with the same and what treatment options will be.I will have a biopsey next week.

  • Hi, I’m a little confused, you been diagnosed? But get the biopsy report next week? Welcome to the forum, I guess no one wants to really find them self here, but many good folks on here, they’ll be answering your questions best they can , I’m in the similar position as you, only I haven’t been diagnosed yet, my biopsy said negative for cancer, so I’m going to more tests, take care my friend, add me as a friend if you need someone to talk to,    Jack

  • I have the same, was diagnosed in May. Everyone is different but I have had chemotherapy which has given me a lot more energy. Is it a liver biopsy you are having? I have had two now and can reassure you that they are not as bad as I expected them to be. Good luck with your treatment!

  • My husband who is 67 is in the same boat. We are waitibg to talk to the consultant and hope he doesn't give us worse news. Hopw to see him this week. Will follow your progress too if you don't mibd. It is such a shock to the system! Good luck with everything. I presume you are talkibg about a liver biopsy,  my husband h as had the bowel biopsy but not tge licer yet. He was diagnosed with the liver lesions by MRI.

  • Hello SRE,

Sorry to read of your recent diagnosis,l went through the same a few years back.In my case they threw a horse and cart at me and did not bother to take the driver or passengers off before doing so.l had six weeks of radio and tablet chemo targeting tumour in the bowel pre op,but pre op scan scan showed spread to liver,so rushed in for 60% liver resection, followed 6 weeks later by bowel resection and stoma.A follow up course of 6 three week rounds of infused and tablet chemo successfully managed to kill off the previously mentioned horse and pretty much everything else. connected with my person.Stoma removed and bowel rejoined 14 months later. If surgery is not possible for you then it will be a chemo/radio regime

The good news is that today you would struggle to see l had been through that and to realise that although you have to go through a really good extended beating, you can emerge from the other side to a second life.

Good luck with your journey and try to keep your stress to a minimum, apart from just keeping moving forwards, putting one foot in front of the other, its the only thing you can bring to this unwelcome party, but its a very important thing,
