Borderline mucinous tumour

Hi, I’m not sure if this is the right place to post, I’ve only just joined and tbh I never join anything i joined because at the moment I’m living daily with the fear of a diagnosis of cancer and it’s weighing so heavily upon me. So my story started last year, in April, I found a hard lump in the lower part of my abdomen, I’ve had four children so I’m a bit lumpy bumpy anyway and for a couple of weeks put it down to that or indigestion. At the same time I realised I was quite bloated which is unusual for me and needing to go for a wee more often. So I went to the doctor who referred me to the hospital, to cut a very long story short I had a ultrasound scan which showed a large cyst like structure on my left ovary. Fast forward weeks of worrying and waiting and an mri scan showed it looked benign but big so months of waiting and I eventually had an operation to remove it (I wanted a full hysterectomy as I’ve compleyed my family and I just wanted to feel safe that this wouldn’t happen again) but the surgeon felt that at 39 I was quite young for a total hysterectomy and the right hand side looked ok. So I had a laparotomy and left salpingo-oophorectomy. I recovered well, but I felt uneasy about getting the lab results back, 2 months went by and I got a letter saying they wanted to discuss my results. I got to the consultation and was told it was borderline, this left me confused and feeling worried all over again. They reassured me I will have regular 3 monthly scans to keep a close eye on me. But I felt I’ve been living with a ticking time bomb inside of me. Eventually got to the first CT scan, 2 months of waiting for the results. And it has now shown I have a 10cm mass in or near my Fallopian tube or it could be in the appendix, they just aren’t sure. This left me devastated, struggling to cope and get through Christmas to keep things happy for my lovely kids, but I’m falling apart. My operation is on the 27th January, they plan on doing a total hysterectomy and removal of appendix. I’m scared and worried that this time it’s cancer, that it’s spread. Has anyone been through similar or have any knowledge about borderline muchinous tumours? My previous one was 20cm, this one was 10cm but probably bigger now. (Also in 2008 when I had my baby boy they found a 5cm mass which they drained when they performed the c-section, it came back 6months later and I had a laparoscopy to remove it from my ovary- that one came back benign, I’m worried about this one as I feel things have steadily got worse each time, the last being borderline) Any info on borderline tumours/cystadenomas with borderline features, any info at all really as I’m slowly going mad and falling apart xx

  • Thanks so much for your reply, il check out that information, thanks again, I think the reality is just getting through these long days until my operation, I’m counting the days down and trying to keep busy and positive- that’s all I can do really, (otherwise I start googling things and looking at worst case scenarios then it’s very difficult to cope) thanks again for taking the time to reply I really appreciate it x
