Blood test

Hi

Hope everyone is alright :)

i went to to the doctors about 2 weeks ago as I was having trouble with constipation and was given 3 types of laxatives to take, then I was in so much pain so went back and the doctor examined me (bottom)then told me to have a blood test, got a call last Thursday from the surgery asking me to come in as my bloods were borderline. Total white blood count 2.8 (-) and Lymphocyte count is 0.36 (-)  it is 4 weeks since I stopped having cancer treatments for cervical cancer. What I would like to know anyone else experience this ? Also is it down to the cancer treatment or might it be another underlying problem ?

    Hi Limesbabe,

I was called back after my bowel screening this year and was given the all clear after tests. Since then I have had chronic constipation. Prior to this my bowel movements were always normal. My GP prescribed laxatives. I had to double up on these before I got any movement at all.

I have had a lumpectomy and a double mastectomy for breast cancer, but have only had hormone therapy for treatment (Tamoxifen and Letrozole). I stopped taking the Letrozole this year, after taking it for almost 6 years.

I am having a lot of lower back pain and occasional severe tummy pain. This is so severe that I perspire all over and feel as if I am about to pass out. Fortunately, it doesn''t last for too long, but I am naturally concerned about it.

I have had a total nuclear medicine bone scan, but this just showed up my arthritic joints.I am holding fire just now to see how things go, but will be pursuing it further if  things don't settle.

Sorry, I've got no answer to offer you, but I hope that you find one soon. If you do, please share.

    Thinking of you,

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

    Hi,

I'm still here after 7 years, so I'm not doing too badly. I hope that your specialist nurse gets back to you soon.

I look forward to hearing how you're getting on.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • Hi Jolamine

specialist nurse phoned by eventually she said the low blood count is because of the cancer treatments I had (3 different ones ) and the reading I have is better than the last one they took. I spoke to about going back work week beginning 9 Oct and she said she couldn’t see a problem just as long as I pace myself :)
