Bleeding can happen after surgery but I'm afraid we cannot tell you how often this happens and why it has happened for your husband. I can see on another thread that he was close to going home so I guess it is a disappointment and worry that they want to keep him a bit longer to make sure he is ok.
If you can, when you are next on the ward, speak with the nurse that is caring for him today and find out why they think this is happening.
In a way it is good that he did not get home and have to go back in again, he is in the best place to get sorted out.
Thanyou Caroline i have been to see Ronnie tonight and the doc said they think he has an infection in his uretha and he has been put on antebiotics. So i will see how he is tomorrow
When l worked with urology patients, l remember the patients taking a while for the bleeding to clear after this type of surgery, prostatectomy patients used to have lots of clots, the urine coming through makes it look worst as they end up with a bag full of bloody liquid. As it heals the bleeding will subside and clear. It's a really vascular area and doesn't take much to make it bleed.

He was going to come home today but at the last minuet they changed there mind and asked him to stay till tomorrow.I thought there was too much blood coming from his penis and i didn't want him to come home ether so we will see what they say tomorrow.
Back where he belongs and feeling good. Bleeding has slowed down. Just had 2 fried eggs 2 toast and half a tin of backed beans x a strawberry cream tart.
It's 4 weeks until Christmas l hope you are both feeling fine and enjoy the festivities
