Biopsy tomorrow.

Hi all,
I have a biopsy tomorrow on 16mm area of dots of calcifications. I'm completely scaring myself silly and want this all to be over.

I read some horrid stories about how uncomfortable the biopsy in (I found the mammogram very uncomfortable),and I've also been told its not as bad as you think.

I initially went after finding a large lump. The lump is a cyst and I have one in my other breast. The Nurse said they weren't concerned about the calcification just being thorough, and 'if she was a gambling woman she would bet its nothing', she also said worse case would be it was pre cancer and perfectly treatable.  They put my mammogram results as a 3 on their 1-5 scale thingy.

So given all that, I'm now convinced the biopsy will be some sort of horrendous medieval torture and I'm now convinced I've got the start of cancer... I can't switch my brain off!

They wouldn't say stuff to make you feel better would they? They would be completely honest?

  • Hi ya ... and welcome ...

Well the best way I can explain a biopsy of Brest tissue is, its like the same feeling when you get your ears pierced... it's quick and yes uncomfortable, but then over quickly ... my daughter in law came with me and held my hand, and that really helped .. I had 2 biopsy's taken but then went and had a nice Costa coffee after ... so try to relax .. and if you can take someone with you ... but it's over in a flash ..

  • Hi, had mine recently, it's a little bit scary but only because it's a new experience and you are far from relaxed in circumstances. But literally ten seconds and its over and it doesn't hurt as much as you might think.
