Bexarotene - Mycosis Fungoides

Hello

I just wondered if anyone on here has been prescribed the drug Bexarotene?

My 74 year old Mum was prescribed it just before Christmas after receiving interferon injections and chemo - neither of which were successful.  My Mum has stage 4 Mycosis Fungoides - a rare form of Lymphoma.

However, the Consultant decided after 3 weeks that the Bexarotene wasnt working and would not prescribe the drug further.  We thought 3 weeks wasnt really long enough to make this decision and that maybe funding was the main reason.  My Mum is now receiving just palative care and not being treated for her cancer at all.  We have been told my Mum only has days or weeks if we are lucky.

Has anyone had a similiar experience?

Many thanks

Tessa

  • Hello tessam,

I'm so sorry to hear that your mum's treatment has not been successful and that her prognosis is poor, what a difficult situation this must be for you and your family.

I'm sure some of our members who have been in a similar situation with their loved ones with cancer will be popping by soon to share their experiences with you and offer support but until then feel free to post as much as you need. Also, if you use the search engine from the left-hand side of the blue banner at the top of this page and insert 'the terms you are looking for it will show up previous posts which you might find useful to read.

Best wishes to you and your mum,
