Been called into hospital for results after month long wait

Hello everyone,

I had an MRI scan done on 6 May and didn't hear anything for a while, so I assumed that everything was fine and there was nothing to worry about. It was only after the 2 week mark that I thought that maybe it was best to try and chase the results up, and so my GP gave me a phone number to ring and ask for my results. The nurse on the phone said that my results had been marked as "non-urgent", so I felt quite reassured at that time and felt like everything would come back clear.

It was only after talking to my parents (I'm 19) that they both started to get frustrated with how long I had to wait to speak to the consultant and get some answers, and my dad pointed out that "non-urgent" doesn't necessarily mean nothing was found (although I can assume it wouldn't be too bad if anything was found).

I started to make more contact with my GP and arranged an appointment for last week, where she told me that something had been flagged up on my MRI but she couldn't access it as she was only the GP and not the requesting consultant. She gave me a different number to call which would lead me to the doctor with my results... only when I called the number I find out he doesn't exist!! After going between my GP and the hospital switchboard multiple times I finally managed to get through to the right doctor, who told me that I had missed my appointment last week?? I told him that I never received a letter and so he's asked me to come in for tomorrow.

I don't know whether to be concerned or not at the moment - half of me is thinking thag because I've been waiting for over a month they're just going to call me in to tell me everything's fine, but then I'm so used to everything being over the phone that I can't help but worry that this must be bad news to tell me in person (and with asking me to come in tomorrow).

Any advice about what this all means would be greatly appreciated!

Best,
