  • Hello Foxdale,

I thought I would pop in and say hello and also let you know about this thread by [@Lucy30]‍. She seems to be in a very similar situation to you having been diagnosed with breast cancer and she started Zoladex about a week ago. Even though she started this treatment quite recently, I think you would have a lot to say to one another as you are in a very similar position at the moment.

I hope it all goes well on Monday. You might be interested to read the information on our website on Zoladex which you can find here. We also have a page specifically on the side effects commonly associated with Zoladex here.

    I hope this is helpful!

    Best wishes,

  • Hi Zoxdale

I started zoladex last Friday so just over a week ago, I cried tears over the thought of having this but being only 30 and a possibly chance of a baby after I went and had it done. The side effects I am having is hot flushes and been very emotional the last few days but that could be down to the fact I have my picc line fitted Tuesday which I am dreading and also chemotherapy starting Wednesday and I am anxious. The needle is fine ask for some Emma cream before having it done as this will help you, also if it’s going to help save your life what else can we do. X

  • Thank you for your reply [@Lucy30]‍ . I had my injection last Monday, so far no hot flushes just yet but I am sure it will come. I think by now you had your PICC line fitted and chemotherapy started? I had the port insertion 2 weeks ago, and still a bit sore. My treatment will hopefully starts next week but nothing is confirm just yet.

    All the best

  • i have had my chemotherapy and i have been very lucky on side effects at the moment. how did you manage to get a port i hate my picc line x

  • hi [@Lucy30]‍ ,

Glad you been lucky on side effects. I've been nervous about the side effects, i can bear loosing hair and  gaining weight but the other side effects that i've been nervous about esp the joint pain and the nausea.

I've been given the choice of PICC line and Port, after reading and asking around i chose port. Why do you hate you PICC line? the medical stuff hasnt try using my port yet, so this Thursday for my first chemo wil be the first time.

  • it’s just so uncomfortable and still painful, I found it horrendous having it done also which hasn’t helped with the healing as they struggled to get it in.

I was so anxious also over side effects and I am sure I haven’t got away from it totally, this time I have been lucky but next maybe not so. The joint pain I have been having since the daily injections for 7 days a few days after chemotherapy but I do them before bed time so I haven’t suffered as much.

Today my skin has been horrendous itchy and had to see a district nurse due to split skin and it being so painful. Xx
