  • Hi _888_

    Welcome to the forum.

I'm not sure what symptoms initially led you to see the GP but it sounds as if your GP and the hospital are being very proactive in getting these tests and your appointment arranged. That's great! I know that lots of our members here find that one of the most difficult periods of time is the "waiting" albeit for tests or results. Hopefully within the next 2 weeks the consultant will be able to tell you what has been causing your symptoms and begin to address those problems for you.

Keep in touch and let us know how you get on.

    Best wishes,

  • Hi 888,  I think referral to a gynaecologist might be standard practice if CA125 results are elevated.  After my initial appointment with my GP she arranged a blood test & referred me for an ultrasound.  As soon as the CA125 results came back (& before the ultrasound had been done) she referred me to a gynaecologist, who then arranged a CT scan.  It all happened within a few weeks.  Good luck for your scan, I hope everything turns out okay.

  • Hi 888

There are guidelines for the doctors to follow regarding referrals and a raised CA125 would have triggered a referral to a gynaecologist. Just normal procedure and no cause for concern-it’s a good thing your issues are being dealt with quickly, means less time to worry! Do you know what type of scan you’re having? Hope your mind will be put at rest and you get an explanation for your problem and good results from the scan, and let us know how you get on. x

  • Hi,

I initially went to see the GP as iv suffered with back pain for years due to a car accident about 18 years ago, but it has got worse over the past 12 months, also my neck has been affected from the accident which also affects my left, the GP did her visual examination and said she was more concerned regarding my Neck and referred me to have a x ray, the GP then asked questions regarding visiting the toilet which I have experienced a few accidents ( urine ) which I’ve put done to the menopause  and the pain I’ve been experiencing  lower stomach area around my Ovaries, this must of concerned the GP as she requested blood tests,  I’ve also this weekend revived a letter from the GP regarding the X ray saying she needs to see me appointment made for this tomorrow so I should find out tomorrow why I’m in so much pain with my neck ( I hope )
