Awaiting biopsy results...the waiting is just awful

Hello Everybody

I've not posted for a while, but felt the need to return and update how things have been. This has been going on since August last year, I've had severe abdominal and pelvic pain, back pain, along with abnormal bleeds. The bleeds have ceased. But the chronic pain continues endlessly.

Last time I posted a few months ago. I'd had all other investigational tests and all ruled out.

I have now had every possible investigation that can be done. The last one was a gastroscopy on 13th March. Which they wanted to cancel, but I emailed and begged them to do it.  I am so glad I didn't let it go, because I'd have been another person misdiagnosed!.

This procedure found polyps in the cardia which were removed and sent to histology along with two other biopsies of the body of my stomach and the antrim as they did not look normal.

So I'm now waiting for results and worried sick.

  • Hello Twinkle-Toes77,

Thank you for taking the trouble to come back and update us all on how things have been. Poor you this has been going on for quite a while now and this chronic pain seems to be really hard to deal with.

You did so well to email them and insist on having the gastroscopy but I am sorry to hear that polyps were removed and sent to histology along with two other biopsies of the body of stomach. I can understand why you are feeling rather anxious as you are waiting for the biopsy results. At least, things are moving forward and it won't be long now until you have some clarity on what is going on.

You've been there before a few months ago and probably remember what an anxious time this wait for results can be. I thought I would share with you these helpful tips to help you cope while waiting for important news.

Keeping everything crossed for you that it all turns out to be fine. Keep us updated if you get a moment.

    Best wishes,

  • Thank you so much Lucie, so kind your words are and they ooze care and compassion. Yes it really is awful having to wait, I am thinking positively, but also keep breaking down in tears, because I just feel so overwhelmed and emotional.

Thank you for the tips, they are very helpful xx I'll update as soon as I receive my results.

  • Hi twinkle toes I to like yourself didn't  have a clue whether anything was seriously wrong  I just felt uncomfortable  swallowing some foods so whilst having a dental appointment I did mention this problem  whereas my checked my throat as best he could and although he couldn't  find anything wrong they wrote a letter to my g.p where then I was referred to E.N.T. After several tests and scans the worst news came were I have a throat cancer of T4  and yes the waiting is the very hardest part it seems to go on for ever   then you go on to waiting for appointments to find out how the best way forward is for treatment  then treatment begins  and seems also to go on forever and as it goes on the worse you feel but please my dearest twinkle toes you are surrounded  by love and care by all the doctors and nurses even the old lady that bring the tea round and of course  I do hope for you the love and care of your dear family  so as dreadfully as the wait and the unknowing may be please  remember that there will be a positive result for you at the end of any treatment you may or may not need please don't  you worry my love everything will work out well for you sorry if I've  gone on a bit but this is the first time I've ever chated on here all my very best wishes regards Billy

  • Hi Billy

Thank you so very much for your lovely message.  Absolutely lovely, thank you . And I am very sorry to hear of your throat cancer, I van only imagine what you are going through and I do feel for you. I will pray for you and hope you are coping   life is just so unfair at times. Thinking of you and I wish you all the best.

  • Just wanted to pop on and offer you soe moral support as you wait for results. I had polyps/fibroids removed and womb biospy on 24th Feb and recived the results back from histology today - thankfully benign.

Like you. my journey started back in June/July with gynaecology - abdominal pain (tthough not severe) and abnormal bleeding. Has the removal of polyps given you any relief from the pain? I'm the opposite way round to you - bleeding has continued but pain is minimal.

I was also referred to the GI department, blood tests showed high and rising CA19.9 levels. I've also had the gastroscopy (gallstones but nothing suspicious found) and I was referred to a specialist liver unit for further tests (still waiting).

I hope that you get your results soon and that its a good result. Wishing you all the best

  • Hello Leni56

Awww bless you, thank you so much for popping by and messaging, it really helps to hear other people going through the same or similar. I'm so sorry you've been through such an ordeal too. Not sure if you saw my previous post, but I too had abnormal bleeding, I'm 45 post surgical menopause. Been through lots of tests and the last one was the gastroscopy. It is a relief I'm some ways that they found something because even I was beginning to think it may be in my head. The pain still remains and comes on worse sometimes, im still taking the nerve blockers at night so I can sleep and they also help me tolerate the pain during the day.

I wish you all the very best with everything you are going through and I really hope you get an appointment soon, I will be thinking of you my lovely x
