Aunt with bone cancer after breast cancer

going through breast cancer treatment myself but was shocked when told today of my aunt (76 yrs old) who has just been diagnosed with bone cancer. I don’t understand it and hoping someone can shed some light on the matter. Last year she was diagnosed with stage 1 breast cancer, had a lumpectomy/rads lymph nodes clear - so how can it have spread to her bones? There is no other cancer.

  • Hi Maggie, my wife was diagnosed with breast cancer is 2016 at the age of 31 had surgery, chemo, radio and meds and all was going well. Last week we found out she has secondary breast cancer which spread to her sternum (bone) this is incurable but treatable. We’re devisated now only 33 to find this out but with two young children we have to remain positive. We were always told that nothing is gaurenteed and there was always a risk of cancer coming back. :-( life’s unfair and *** sometimes excus the language

  • Really sorry to hear about your wife. At least my aunt has had a long life but to be hit with this at 33 yrs is so unfair. I have read up in bone cancer and see great strides have been made in treatments so I hope your wife gets the best care possible. Always look for the positives, there are many on here living with mets, hopefully they will be on line soon to give you support and advice.
