Anyone else that's tripple negative been told to stop HRT

Hi,

I was perimenopausal for about 10 years after my hysterectomy, finally hit the main event about 2 years ago and last year I was put on oestrogen only HRT and told to watch for breast lumps as, if you are prone, it will speed things up. In November, I found a lump (mouse), Doc said it felt normal but to be on safe side, she'd refer me.

Mammogram couldn't see it as it was inside the cyst but ultrasound did so biopsy taken. Anyway, to cut long story short; I was tripple negative, had it and 4 nodes removed, which were clear, was waiting for chemo but of course this virus hit so now just going to have radio, gp called me and told me to stop HRT even though it was tripple negative.

And before anyone says surely another 10 years of hot flushes, no sleep (resulting in the mood swings) is better than cancer, I know but has anyone else been taken off it, even if it didn't cause it?

  • Hello Thomtit

I'm sorry to hear about everything that you've been dealing with recently. I'm not sure if we've any ladies who have been in your position but hopefully if there is they will pop along to share their experiences with you.

Have you spoken to your breast nurse or Consultant about the HRT? It may be worth speaking to them to see what their advice would be and if they can suggest anything else that may be able to help. Alternatively give one of our team of nurses a call. I'm sure that they will be happy to talk things through and offer any insights they have. You can call them on 0808 800 4040 (Mon-Fri 9am -5pm).

I hope that the rest of your treatment goes smoothly.

    Best wishes,
    Jenn

  • Thank you Jenn, for  your advice.

I hope that this situation with the virus is over soon, there must be so many people in the middle of treatment, cr***ing themselves.

    Take care, Thom
