Anyone else?

Despite taking my anti sickness meds religiously I have just woken up to what is essentially warning signs to being sick. I would like to know if anyone else having chemo/radiotherapy has had the issue of dark green acidic vomit. Hurt like hello getting in out and taste vile. Please tell me I'm not the only one

  • Hi shaky, i was sick plenty could it be what was already in stumack, mine was funny colour to start with then went clear as stumack emptied,, this is a nice subject first thing in the morning, remember what goes down can come up and colour can change when getting mixed internally including stumack acid, hope you find out soon,, hope hubby's looking after you now, and you've got a big bowl, i won't kiss you just now. Love... Billy

If you're not sure take a couple of carrier bags with you, unless you've a dog take some poo bags i always have some in the car even now just in case,

P.s thinking about it, it was more like bits of dark shoe leather, I'd rather forget that bit, thanks a million, it can depend what you put down there, hope it goes off soon,

  • I have terrible vomiting while on carboplatin. Once all my stomach contents were up it would just be stomach bile yet I couldn't stop it.  Twice this caused burning in my oesophagus which led to me struggling to swallow at all for hours (eased by sucking ice lollies!!!)

It turned out that psychosomatic vomiting is very common on the chemo I was on, which was why the medications weren't working for it.  In the end I saw a palliative care doctor and started doing relaxation therapy with her.  That has worked and got rid of the vomiting finally.

Do consider whether your sickness could be psychological as that is more common than people think.  Our brains are pretty well programmed to assume we will be sick on chemo and so can make us sick.  Please note by psychological I'm not suggesting it's "not real" just that the cause of it is your brain doing something wrong rather than your body reacting to the drugs.  My sickness and vomiting was indeed very real and the worst my oncologist had ever seen (ended up admitted to A&E a few times as I was still wretching nearly an hour after the sickness started!)

Best of luck getting over whatever the cause is.
