Anyone bounced back after decline?

Hi

Dad had squamous nsclc dx feb 2012, he had intense radio chemo April 2012 then no treatment until October 2013 when he had chemo. He has done so we and up until a few months ago was continuing to lead a normal ish life. Despite being dx with angina and a collapsed lung.

Since December dad has declined, nausea, sickness extreme tiredness and cough is bad, he spends more time in bed. He really doesn't seem well at all, looks poorly and has lost weight. Pushes himself to work full time don't know how. Ct scan in dec results in January showed not much- mainly stable. However dad has been so bad he returned to onc a couple of weeks ago and has full body scan on Monday. Onc thinks the tumour is pushing in the oesphagus and thinks he will get dad to have chemo docetaxel, but will wait results of ct.

I am so worried this is it, that dad is never going to improve and just get worse. Has anyone had similar but bounced back? Or anyone shed light on what maybe happening I am terrified it has spread further brain or liver or everywhere :(

Dad made a joke earlier about not doing the washing up as he doesn't know how long he will be around and don't want to be doing that, didn't see the funny side and felt like he feels this is it.

  • Dont worry Kirstynic = we are thinking of you and your Dad. I lit a candle this morning to be a light for you at this time. Anything is possible and once the doxytaxel is out of the way - he may well bounce back = well lets hope so! He sounds a good dad and he sounds he takes life lightly =

All our bestest wishes and huggies to you

    Steven xxx
