Anxiety over Lymphoma

Hi All,

i am not one to post on forums but I’ve become rather anxious with my health over the last few months. I noticed a small lumps on the side of my neck about a month ago ( about the size of a pea or even a little smaller) but it is easy to find and moveable. I thought I would give it time to see if it would clear or grow and then decide from there. However, neither has happened. It’s just still present at the same size. From this I know constantly check my neck and find a lot of lymph nodes. Majority are moveable. Is it normal to be able to feel all of your glands in your neck?  This was my first worry.

I experience tiredness but I don’t believe it’s the level of fatigue. I feel tired but still manage to go to the gym, go to work and stay up until a reasonable time in the evening without falling asleep. I have recently experienced itching but I am not sure if this is because i am aware of itching as a symptom. It’s not severe itching just present at different parts of my body but is not constant. I just wanted to know if other people experienced something along these lines?

I finally have a slight pain in the middle of my chest but once again nothing extreme. More of a discomfort or an ache rather that pain. It isn’t causing any shortness of breath.

I would really like to know peoples thoughts on this and any guidance?

I would also like to wish everyone who is actually battling with this disease all the best. Your all so amazing!

  • Hi lymph nodes can swell for no reason at all or from a bit of infection they are actually cleaning machines but sometimes they get a bug and the body has to clean it out it can take months sometimes they don't go back down. But check with your doctor to be on the safe side.

If you have an infection it wants clearing up.

  • Hi Lford

I have a few slightly enlarged lymph nodes and they have been checked by a few doctors and a haematologist and all said they are small and feel normal.

As I'm having other symptoms as well I was refered for some cancer specific blood tests and I'm awaiting the results. My main symptoms are abdominal pain and night sweats and recently persistent itching so slightly different to yours.

I would suggest see your GP and get the ball rolling. As the doctor might say to observe them and come back in a few weeks. They might also do some blood tests to check for infection.

Let us know how you get on and get in touch if you have any questions.

  • Hi,

I would suggest you go to the GP and request a scan, if anything to put your mind at ease.

A few months ago I found some lymph nodes in my neck that are the size of peas, movable and don’t hurt, it’s on the cervical chain in my neck (google it to see if in similar position).

I had my scan and they said the lymph nodes looked fine, although superficial and that’s why I could feel them, it’s just incidental at the same time they found a 2cm lump in my thyroid which I’m having removed next Friday.

its always best to get it checked x
