Anticipatory Vomiting - any treatment ideas?

So my consultant suggested I might be suffering from anticipatory vomiting based on my vomiting on the way to chemotherapy.  I couldn't get that diagnosis to fit as I had vomited numerous times in the weeks before hand.

However, going back over my diary my vomiting does seem to relate to when I am going to be having to go out.  So rather than it being anticipatory on the chemo, I'm wondering if it's the anticipation (and anxiety) of going out while worrying that I'm going to be sick while out.

Given that I have loads of hospital appointments and can't exactly stay in the house 24 hours a day, I'm wondering if anyone has had any treatment for anticipatory vomiting that has worked?

  • Speak to your GP and ask about the medicine Cinnarizine, also called Stugeron.

If you want to try a homeopathic preparation then you may also find New Era Combination S Tissue Salts helpful.  These are also sold by Holland and Barrett as Schuessler Combination S Tissue Salts.
