Another update on dad...

Hello again,

Just wanted to let those that have replied to my posts that my lovely dad died yesterday. He was in the hospice for nearly a week and gradually got weaker until he died. He was amazingly well looked after, the nurses were incredible and even cried a little when dad finally went . Although that could have been down to my terrible singing of Johnny Cash's Walk the Line that I sang to dad in his final minutes. It was just me and him at the end. For those facing this soon, take heart from me that it was peaceful and dignified and I felt privileged to have helped him on his way. Thank you to everyone who has replied to my posts and I hope you're all doing well. Xx

  • Hi Kessygirl,

So sorry to read abut your dads passing and thank you for updating us. At least he is no longer suffering, thats one small conselation. You have the knowlege of knowing you did all you could for him and I feel sure he was/is very proud to have you as a daughter. Just remember over the next few weeks, allthough he is no longer with us, A part of him lives on inside of you in the form of memoeries and also in the genes he passed on to you. I lost my mother several years ago to breast cancer, but quite often I feel thankfull that I had her for my mother for she has helped shape who I am just as your dad has you.

Please keep in contact for often the relative need help just as much after losing a loved one as they did before. Sending condolances and kind thoughts your way, Brian.

  • Sorry I have only just read  your updated post and am pleased you were able to be so well supported by the hospice during the last days before your Dad passed away. Sending hugs at this sad time for you and the family and am sure your singing was just fine and how lovely that you could do this for him.  Jules x
