Anastrazole joint pain

Hi. I know there's often discussion about hormone therapy and joint pain, but I am really having a tough time of it at the moment. Pain in my knees is making me walk like a 90 year old and is stopping me being able to run which I'm keen to do for lots of obvious reasons as a cancer survivor.  Is there anything that can help other than strong pain killers? Has anyone tried one of the ARC devices? I've got one and am about to start using it but won't bother if its a waste of time.

Increasingly fed up with the pain, but reluctant to go back to Tamoxifen as it is less effective for post menapausal women.

  • Hi,

I get steroid injections in my knees because of arthritis, but before I started getting them I used a device called Actipatch. It was a loop of fine covered wire connected to a coin sized battery unit that encircles your knee cap, on the front, it produces fine pulses that are supposed to interrupt the pain signal going to the brain.  I held it on with an elastic bandage sleeve but there is a specific holder for it. I don't know if it worked for me because it was effective or if it was the placebo effect, but it certainly helped me.  Other than that you could use a mini TENS machine that also works by interrupting the pain signals. I used them because I didn't want to take medication, but now I'm on so much medication I get the injections. It might be worth researching it.

Good luck, I know how debilitating knee pain can be.

  • Thanks! I've used the ARC for 2 days now and although I haven't been out running, my knees feel marginally better. No change on the stiffness in my hands as yet.
