All leukemia

My 53 year old wife has All leukemia diagnosed may 2017. A TERRIBLE time with chemo, induction took 73 days in hospital. Multiple transfusions and complications along the way. She is now in complete remission and has chosen a bone marrow transplant for a possible cure. This will take place in mid March at the hospital of the university of pennsylvania a 2 hours drive from home which makes everything difficult. I am TERRIFIED for her as death is possible. Selfishly, she runs the house. I have a 17 year old daughter and a 20 year old son in college. I am so afraid of ending up alone. Any advice would be appreciated Thanks.

  • Hi garrisonjj,

I'm sorry to read your wife had a tough time with treatment for ALL but I'm really pleased to see that she's in remission and now has the option of a transplant which may offer a possible cure.

All surgery and treatment comes with risks and your worries and fears are completely natural and understandable. Many members here know how tough it can be to support someone and hopefully some of them will be along soon to offer their advice.

I wanted to put you in touch with [@Dyzabell87]‍, [@tvhearts]‍ and [@Midnightfish]‍ as they all have experience of your wife's diagnosis and may be able to help you at this time. There is also a discussion from last year you may like to have a look at as the members there were in a similar position to you and will understand what you are going through.

I hope this helps and that your wife's operation goes well next month.

    Kind regards,
