After Whipples

Hi so I am now 6yrs out of my Whipples op. Had it done in April 2016. I have been taking the Creon as you have to when eating. I still find it difficult with the little bit often eating because really I find that eating once a day would be it. But, I wanted to ask if anyone has had problems with coffee? Sounds silly but I've always been a coffee drinker but for the last couple of months when I have a coffee, with 10mins I get a chronic stomach ache and literally have to run to the loo and I don't understand why suddenly after 6yrs, anyone else got this problem?

  • Hello ladyjo.

There is a fb page called uk whipple warriors.

    I think they could help.

  • Hello there and thanks for posting

You have posted on the ask the nurses section of the forum but hopefully some people will jump on here and share their experiences with you.

I'm sorry to hear you needed to have a whipples op a few years back and seem to be having issues with coffee at the moment.

Unfortunately I don't know why this has just recently started to happen but if it doesn't settle I would mention it to your GP so they can assess you as to what may be going on, or if they need to arrange some tests.

Some people are very sensitive to coffee or caffeine and it can cause acid reflux and heart burn or for others send them running to the toilet.

I hope things sort themselves out soon but do get back if you have more questions.

    Best wishes

    Naomi
