Advice needed

Good day,

22/01 my mother was diagnosed in Slovakia with a liver cancer. Mom does not drink, does not smoke and is 62 years old. I am British seeking advice on what treatment would be best for her.

She has two tumors in the liver it is not yet spread anywhere in the body but the larger one has 6.5cm and is in the center. Nearly a month after the diagnosis, there is still not much decided. Doctors arent in agreement whether to operate it or rather not. A few days ago, we were pleased to hear that she had received the date of Operation for 04/03 at Klenova in Bratislava, but the doctors also advised her to seek elsewhere an earlier date.

She then consulted this advices with the primary doctor, who shaked his had not understanding why they wanted to operate inoperable, and asked for a cd of CT and MRI, and asked my mum to come to see him in a week time. I have all the results in electronic form and I would like to send them here in England to some oncologist and find out what other experts suggest.

It is slowly killing me watching how her time is wasted, and I'd like to know where to find information on second opinion here in the UK.

I live in England but I have decided to move to Slovakia for a while to be close to mom and at this stage I do not know whether I should solve my things or help her with the doctors.

Thank you in advance for your opinion.

Sincerely

Katarína

  • Welcome to the forum Katarina although I'm sorry to see that your mum has been diagnosed with liver cancer.

We have some information about UK specialists that may be able to give a private medical opinion on our website that I hope will prove useful at this time but ultimately it may be best to speak with your GP first to see what help and guidance they can provide.

Our cancer nurses may also be able to point you in the right direction so do give them a call next week when you get a chance. Their freephone number is 0808 800 4040 and are available between 9a.m - 5p.m.

I hope this helps Katarina and that you're able to figure out what to do.

Best wishes to you and your mum,
