Advice for throat cancer, dad struggling to eat or drink

Hi everyone.

we've recently found out my dad has throat cancer we are still in the early stages and are still waiting to see what treatment ect is his going to have.
my dads in a lot of pain and is unable to eat he has been given shakes and liquid things bu the last few days he is struggling to even swallow fluids due to the pain Does anyone have any advice on what we can do? I'm already worrying his going to lose weight which isn't good as he is already tiny but now struggling to drink is going to make him worse. Any advice would be grateful appreciated    Thank you.

  • Hi Lisa

My brother had throat cancer and when he couldn't eat or drink he had a feeding tube in his tummy for a while with a peg on it. I think it's very, very important that you let the doctor know today that he isn't eating or drinking.

My brother had all the treatment and has been cancer free now for six years.

  • Yes I did think that would be the next Option. I'm going to phone today.

    thank you!
that's fab to hear your brother is cancer free! Gives me some hope! Thank you
