Acne sort of spots during chemotherapy

Had my first dose of chemotherapy last week and it’s been almost a week at home now. Tired and struggling but it’s getting easier.

i have noticed my head and face starting to be very sensitive to touch and this morning I had an outbreak of spots on my face like I have never had before. Also red spots are starting to appear on my back too.

anything I could possibly do to help the breakouts nots be as bad apart from the obvious?

im routinely cleaning and cleansing my face daily and nightly

  • Hi MarkyN,

I said hello in your other thread but thought I'd drop by and let you know that I have asked our nurses to have a look at your post and they will respond to it very soon.

  • Hello and thanks for posting,

I am sorry to hear about your skin. Unfortunately, certain drugs can cause this. It can be due to altered levels of skin bacteria, or chemical changes in the body. Do tell your hospital team to see if they can suggest anything. Switch to unperfumed ph balanced skin products. Try not to use extremes of temperature such as hot or cold, when bathing or washing. Use tepid water.

It may be that there might be medications such as topical creams or oral medications (sometimes antibiotics) that can be used. Your GP or hospital team should be able to suggest something.

    Best wishes,

  • Fantastic!

My skin has calmed down abit from switching my normal face scrub to a soap free one. It’s abit easier on my skin and seems to be making them ease up a little bit.

    Thanks for the advice.
