Abdominal/Bowel issues

Hi,

My name is Dean I have been suffering for the past say 4 months with abdominal pain and really loose bowel movements along with really bad dizzy spells not being able to walk for sometimes hours due to be really dizzy at times.

I did attend my local walk in centre twice and was checked for basically hernias and either time they found nothing then about a month ago I attended my doctors to see a GP after finally getting an appointment. He asked me what my issues where then checked for hernias and muscle injuries and could not find anything so asked me to get bloods and a stool sample to send off and they have found something to do my stools.

I now need to have a CT scan on lower abdomen and also a colonoscopy, I am getting beyond worried as Ive passed alot of mucus with small amounts of blood now and become really constipated now and in more pain in my abdomen which means I cant lie flat in bed so I now sleep on the couch, I am quite tired and sometimes sickly in work and even just playing with my son even though I am a fit lad.

Has anyone else had all of this and if so what to expect? Any help would be appreciated thankyou.

Dean

  • Hi Dean and welcome to the Cancer Chat community.

I'm sorry about the symptoms you've been having lately but I'm glad the doctor you saw is taking this seriously and has sent you for further tests to find out what's going on.

Hopefully some of our members who have been in a similar position will pop along soon to share their experiences with you but whilst you wait I thought you may like to have a look at the information we have on our website about a CT scan and colonscopy

I hope this makes what's to come a little less scary but if you have any further questions don't hesitate in giving our cancer nurses a call on 0808 800 4040, Monday - Friday between 9a.m - 5p.m.

    All the best,

  • Hi Steph,

Thanks so much for the reply and the information on the tests I will have done I am not looking forward to the colonoscopy at all.

I hope someone will read it and give me an idea pf what it is if they have had the same symptoms as anything people could tell me may help as my head is all over the place at the minute.

    Thanks again

    Dean
