56 year old woman

I have been taking Tamoxifen for nearly 8 years. Apart from going through all the hot flushes, night sweats, mood swings etc I don't have any sexual feeling anymore. I've been married for 35 years this year & I don't think my husband can handle what he sees as rejection much longer. 2 years ago following a procedure I had to have a hysterectomy too ( abnormal cells, didn't need it so asked them to take it out). I'm thinking of maybe stopping the Tamoxifen to see if I get any feelings back to save my marriage. I know I run the risk of the hormones spreading my cancer further, or do I just lay back & think of England. Don't worry I won't stop without talking to my oncologist. Any help or advice would be very helpful

  • Hi Bambi62,

    Welcome to the forum.

You'll need to tell your oncologist that you want to come off Tamoxifen before you stop taking it.  If you want to talk to someone in confidence about how it is affecting you, then don't hesitate to ring our specialist nurse helpline on 0808 800 4040. This line is open from Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm. We also have some tips here for coping with the side effects of Tamoxifen, which I hope will help

    Best wishes,
