You did well to chase your appointment as you had not heard anything. I can understand why being told that your referral had been rejected has left you confused. Don't hesitate to ask your doctor questions to find out more as to why you need to have the polyp removed urgently and why you don't get to see the gynaecologist first. This must all be a bit puzzling for you and you have the right to get some answers. 

I know it is really hard but try not to worry too much or anticipate what it might be. The best thing to do to avoid thinking too much about this is to keep busy and distracted if you can and avoid looking things up online. I can imagine it is hard for you to do this at the moment but it will help you feel a little less anxious. While you are waiting, there are helpful tips on this page to help you cope while waiting for important news.
