2 week referral and ovarian cysts

2 weeks ago I was put on the 2 week referral for post menopause bleeding and cervical polyps, and they werent able to complete a smear.  I since had an ultrasound where they also found fibroids and mentioned a ovarian cyst possibly,  going down behind my uterus, but the gynae would give me full details and might need mri scan.  I still havent seen a specialist after 2 weeks and GP is chasing, but I feel in limbo as Now  they have found all the extras on the ultrasound, there is noone to explain it all and I can’t plan ahead. I haven’t had blood tests or anything yet, and dont know how serious it may be.  I have always had problems but doctors always prodded my abdomen and sais they couldnt feel anything. Hormone checks in my 30s were apparantly fine.  Now I guess the ultrasound has come along rather late in the day. They seemed to be marking a lot up on the scan.

  • Hi Daisy.

Welcome to the forum and I'm sorry to hear about the on going health concerns that you've been dealing with.

I know that lots of our members here will be able to empathise with the feeling of being "in limbo". Waiting for tests and results can be a difficult period and as you've been given this new information but not had it explained to you I can understand how frustrated you must be feeling.

Hopefully now that the scan has revealed this additional information and your GP is chasing up the appointment you won't have to wait too much longer.

Keep in touch Daisy and let us know how you get on.

    Best wishes,

  • Thank you, results stuck with the GP and they have no appointments to explain them, hospital now gave me an appt for mid September, so im trying to get hold of results still to see if I can perhaps ask a private GP what they indicate.  If they had  told me all looks ok that's fine, but communication is so lacking, it might be that it's not good they are just on holiday.  I did read that you get priority on this pathway 2 week wait  if you are over 55, but surely time after menopause is more relevant so I also wonder if I am stuck in an NHS 'average' stats type delay.
