  • I am so pleased to hear it went ok for you, I was thinking about you as your appt was 1 hour before mine.  I have to have my lump plus lymph nodes removed 3 June and then chemo and radio for me too.  Now things have started I feel a lot calmer. Last night was virtually sleepless so I hope to get a few good hours tonight.

my best wishes and hugs, take care and keep in touch. Xx

  • Hi Diane

That must be a relief for you.  I found the first one not too bad at all, felt a bit sickly, tired and headaces.  I also found that drinking a lot helped, and about four days after chemo I would force myself to take a short walk.  I had what I called my chemo bag by the side of my bed:  Cool gels for my head, thermometer, benvita biscuits (they helped when I felt sick!!), diary (I recorded how I felt each day, so I would be prepared for the next session), cream for my lips, hospital contacts, and tablets.  By the second week I felt more normal, and very good by the third.

I loved the visits from my grandchildren, don't they take your mind off things, but as they are young and at school, I was careful during day 5 to 10 as this is time I believe, you can easily catch infections.

People do respond to treatment differently, but if I can give you any advice please post on this site.

Thinking of you, and keep in touch.

My name is also Diane xxx

  • I remember being at the same stage as you 2 years ago.  I agree when treatment gets underway you feel a lot better.  I felt more in control. and doing something to help.  It's a funny thing, you are so busy controlling the affects of treatment you don't dwell on anything else.  Looking back it went really quickly, and sometimes I have to pinch myself to believe I actually went through this.  I never knew this site existed when I was having my treatment, which is a shame, but if I can help others I will.

    Keep in touch  xxx

  • Hi Diane yes well I got up early this morning. I slept the hole night when I came off last night. Anyway I forced my self to have a go Down to the shops my legs were sore but I took my time the only thing was I forgot I had to walk up massive hill I was not thinking when walking down. I was out of breath but I think that's affect of treatment had some breakfast which made me feel full I have had to take painkillers for my head but I can handle what's happening right now.      All the best Diane

  • I am glad you are not feeling too poorly - take care of yourself and be selfish, let others do for you, I know this is difficult.

Please keep me in touch with your journey.

    Kind regards

    Diane xxx
