Specialist policies and insurance companies

It can be hard to get travel insurance when you have cancer. But there are insurance companies with special policies.

Finding a broker

An insurance broker can try to arrange a policy for you. Or they can give you a list of insurance companies with special policies for people with cancer or other medical conditions.

Brokers make a service charge. So it’s always best to make an informal approach to a few brokers before you make a decision. Satisfy yourself that they’re familiar with the concerns of people with cancer and know what’s available.

The British Insurance Brokers Association (BIBA) can suggest brokers who can look for travel insurance policies for people with cancer.

You’ll find some brokers and insurance companies below. But always make your own enquiries and find an insurer and policy you’re happy with.

Specialist insurance companies

Shop around for insurance and start well in advance of your planned holiday.

It’s worth getting quotes from well known or general travel insurance companies, particularly if you’re no longer having treatment and your cancer is in remission.

The companies we list may be useful for people with cancer, particularly if you are having treatment or have symptoms. Brokers might be able to offer better deals than individual insurance companies.

We're passing this information in good faith. We’ve heard about most of these companies because our website visitors have recommended them. But we are not recommending them, or saying that they will definitely insure you. Insurance companies often change their position on insurance cover, so it’s almost impossible to give you an accurate list.
