Young Art is a fun and creative Cancer Research UK fundraising event for children of all ages which invites young people to exhibit their artwork in a local gallery.

Why we need you:

Cancer Research UK is seeking committed individuals to support existing groups to organise a Young Art event.  By joining a Young Art group you will help to increase cancer awareness within your community and raise significant funds for Cancer Research UK’s life-saving work to help us beat cancer sooner.

What will I be doing?

We need your passion and drive to make Young Art a reality in your community. You can involve friends, families and colleagues to help you and most importantly of all, gain the involvement of children of all ages. The role will involve:

  • Attending group meetings and liaising with the group organiser.
  • Visiting local schools to promote and encourage them to get involved.
  • Help to sort, mount and judge the artwork as well as helping run the 2 day event.

What skills do I need?

We're looking for volunteers with good verbal and written communication skills. You will have plenty of creative flair as well as the practical skills and willingness to muck in with a range of tasks. As a committed, reliable and self-motivated individual you will be able to use your own initiative to successfully plan and organise your event. Using your PC skills you will be able to publicise your event effectively and gain support from your personal networks.

What support will we give you?

A dedicated Local Fundraising Manager will be available to give you continuous support and guidance. You will also be given an induction and training on all aspects of this role. All appropriate materials will be supplied by Cancer Research UK.

What benefits can I expect?

  • The satisfaction of making a vital difference to the work of Cancer Research UK.
  • The buzz of helping to set up and run a successful event.
  • The satisfaction of involving young people in a creative and enjoyable activity.
  • The enjoyment of meeting new people
  • The opportunity to develop skills in areas such as fundraising and event management.

Where will I be based?

You will be based from home and will also spend time out and about in your local community, promoting the event, collecting entries and organising the exhibition.
